Review: Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room

Who doesn’t want the song “Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Room” stuck in their head all day? Yeah I thought so. The perennial favorite little tropical birds sing and entertain all in the Enchanted Tiki Room. The show is one of Walt Disney’s classic attractions and a can’t miss for nostalgia buffs.

The Low Down:

Opened: October 1, 1971 (replaced between 1998-2011 with the God awful The Enchanted Tiki Room – Under New Management)
Location:  Adventureland

Type: Audio-animatronic Theater Show

Length: 16 minutes

FastPass: No, theater loads pretty fast and if you miss the show in front of you, it’s only another 16 minutes of waiting time.

Kid Factor:  Can be high. Like Carousel of Progress, people tend to drag their children in here to get a break from the heat. The Tiki Gods Thunderstorm portion may cause the rugrats to scream in terror.

Highlights:  Don’t upset the Tiki Gods or there will be hell to pay.

Overall: Once again, seeing one of Walt’s creations is pretty awesome. The show is a little cheesy but it’s a classic. It’s an audio-animatronic singing bird show. It beats the hell out the late nineties “Under New Management” fiasco (Sign from God that Iago burned to a crisp?). If anything you escape the heat and gives you a place to sit for awhile.

Final Verdict: 3.5 out of 5 stars

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
