WDW Has “Frozen” Over

The news of the past week came to much of the dismay of many EPCOT purists (including myself). The Maelstrom limited edition shirts and the absence of any FastPass+ past September definitely signaled that Norway’s popular boat ride was coming to the end. The news was confirmed on Friday by Disney’s Tom Staggs via the Disney Parks blog.

The new attraction, which replaces Maelstrom, will take our guests to Arendelle and immerse them in many of their favorite moments and music from the film.

Malestrom Entrance

Yes, Maelstrom was killed by a pair of sisters and a talking snowman. The last day to ride the high seas adventure will be October 5th. The new Frozen ride is expected to open early 2016.

There are also plans for an Anna and Elsa meet and greet area in the pavilion as well. So the ride that was kinda inspired by Norway (but not really based on an actual location) will be located in there. I bet the Cast Members cannot wait to answer questions about Arendelle.

Frozen Cinderella Castle

If that wasn’t enough Frozen news; Anna, Elsa and the rest of the gang will be joining Mickey’s Very Christmas Party in the Magic Kingdom starting November 5th. Queen Elsa will have the honor of icing over Cinderella’s Castle during the event.

Frozen’s Summer Fun LIVE is also getting an extension with more opportunities to “Let It Go”. Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post will relocate closer to the Sing-Along show. There will also be a bigger play area with real snow. All events are scheduled to run throughout the holiday season.

Frozen Marquee

Via Inside the Magic, Frozen is now on the marquee in Hollywood Studios. It’s official other than Animal Kingdom, Frozen is in every park with a big presence.

What will be the next Frozen takeover? Blizzard Beach?

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
