Dateline: Walt Disney World – February 6, 2021

Good things come to those who wait! Looks like the Liberty Belle has returned to her home port, No Super Bowl champions at the Magic Kingdom, and the Keys to the World get an updated look. Grab your teacups, it’s time to take a spin around the World.

Refurbs Galore: Tis the season for your favorite attractions going under refurbishment. Along with the never-ending PeopleMover repairs, the Mad Tea Party closes on February 22 and will reopen on March 5. The Swiss Family Treehouse is slated to close on March 12 and reopen on March 26. At Epcot, the Rose & Crown Dining Room is closing February 17 through the early spring.

Some good news – the Liberty Belle Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island have finished their refurbs. These areas were scheduled to open on February 5, but Imagineers have completed their projects early.

Primeval Whirl’s Long Goodbye: If you were holding out hope for a return of the vomit-inducing attraction, you are out of luck. Disney had filed permits for construction (a possible demolition?) of the ride. Does this mean Dinoland is also facing extinction?

Lookin’ Good Tomorrowland: According BlogMickey, those support beams outside of Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor have received a welcome refresh. Finally, the last signs of the gaudy steampunk elements are slowly disappearing from Tomorrowland.

New Look for Key to the World: We all know that Disney put a kibosh on free MagicBands. However, you can get a complimentary Key to the World card with new Mickey & Friends flair. You can choose from Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, and Goofy.

No Super Bowl Parade: If you were hoping to see a Super Bowl champion head down the middle of Main Street, it’s not happening this year. Due to everything horrible, Disney is pulling the plug on this tradition. However, the traditional after-the-game ad will run as usual.

Another week in the books for Walt Disney World. We’re still hoping to hear about more openings around the Kingdom. That’s all for now. We’ll see you next week as we bring the news from the House of Mouse.

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
