May the Fourth Be With Mama Melrose

May the Fourth! It should be a day for all things Star Wars. But today, we had other plans. Yes, I could not ignore the awesome Death Star popcorn bucket, but it was also the time to say goodbye to Mama Melrose in Muppets Courtyard.

After the morning deluge, we decided to start the day.

So Disney had two queues: one for the popcorn bucket and a second for Star Wars day merch.

But that didn’t stop other lines in the park from forming. This was for pins and A New Hope anniversary merch.

And then a line for the line to queue up for the Death Star mobile order.

So, Galaxy’s Edge was absolutely packed. Last year, May the Fourth fell on a Saturday, and it wasn’t even this jammed packed. Just trying to walk through any area meant walking shoulder to shoulder with people. Ugh!

Death Star acquired! But I had to push my way through the crowd to get a photo with the Millennium Falcon.

It even lights up and makes noises like the real Death Star! Krennic would be so proud!

The Stormtroopers were out and about in the chaos.

Time for the next line: the merch! Every year, there’s a virtual queue for the store in Stage 1 Company Store. But this will be our last look because the store is getting demolished for Monsters Land.

No more Ramp This A-Way…

Or Ramp That A-Way.

We’re in! Just the typical merch of hats, shirts, pins, and other goodies.

Some Muppet decor all around

The T-shirt was embroidered. Very nice!

Clone Wars stuff!

I was tempted by the Mouse Droid. It actually moved!

More merch…

It was so hard to get any pictures because grown adults were pushing to get merch. Then you add in the ECV people, and you get trapped and can’t move. I almost had a panic attack.

As I’m fighting for air, I grabbed a few more interior shots.

Finally free! I did grab a hat and shirt.

Let’s enjoy some so-to-be-gone views of the Muppet Courtyard.

Almost time for Mama Melrose. Even with the reservation, the restaurant was running a half hour behind schedule.

So more photo time!

It’s a shame that Disney just doesn’t know what to do with Muppets. And now, they’re getting replaced with Monsters Inc.

Still waiting…

Finally, our table was ready. Only about 40 minutes after checking in.

Things did not get better…

We waited for drinks, and after 15 minutes, the server “remembered” to bring our bread.

You get olive oil, butter, and Parmesan cheese.

As we’re chomping down on the first bite, the entree was served. I had the Chicken Parm, and it looked sad. Honestly, the Olive Garden has better tasting food. My Mom had spaghetti and meatballs, and there was barely any red sauce and the meatballs looked dried.

I won’t miss this place.

I grabbed a few interior photos for posterity.

Maybe I lied, the Tiramisu was actually phenomenal!

Of course, I chose the cannolis, which were just regular ol’ cannolis you could get at Publix. But will be dreaming of that Tiramisu.

A few more shots before we leave.

And that’s a wrap! You will not be missed Mama Melrose. I’ve never had a good experience here.

As we were leaving a Cast Member for Stage 1 invited me in to take a few photos. We talked about how this area will be no more.

And some parting shots…

Did you know there’s a Seinfeld reference across the street from Muppets Courtyard?

The Assman lives in one of the buildings.

Goodbye for now Galaxy’s Edge. Usually we stay until nighttime, but the crowds were unbearable.

I’m almost ready to drop from the heat, but I have enough strength to say “Hi” to Pluto!

As that concludes our Star Wars adventure! It was absolutely nuts with people. This was the type of day that makes me question about heading to the park for the next May the Fourth.

That’s it for now. Until next time.
