Dateline: Walt Disney World – July 9, 2022
Compared to last week, it’s been a slow news week. However, if you miss character meet-and-greets, you’ll love the BIG news from the parks. Plus, a beloved holiday event returns with a bigger price tag. Let’s take a look around the World.
The Mouse Giveth and the Mouse Taketh
You are in luck if you love your meals with Disney characters. A few restaurants around Walt Disney World are welcoming back their favorite pals, including:
- Stitch at ‘Ohana (Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort) – Breakfast
- Winnie the Pooh and Friends at The Crystal Palace (Magic Kingdom) – Lunch and Dinner
- Minnie and her friends at Cape May Cafe (Disney’s Beach Club Resort) – Breakfast
Plus, several meet-and-greets have returned to the Parks:
Chewbacca and Darth Vader at Star Wars Launch Bay (Hollywood Studios)
Aladdin, Jasmine, Snow White, and Peter Pan at Magic Kingdom
If that wasn’t enough, the Green Army Drum Corps will be heading back to Hollywood Studios (date still not announced).
Unfortunately, we cannot have 100% good news. It looks like some entertainment options are going the way of the Universe of Energy dinos. While some of the closings were previously announced, these performances/performers have been permanently removed from the website.
Magic Kingdom
- Main Street Trolley Show
- Meet Alice in Wonderland at the Mad Tea Party
- Meet Gaston By his Tavern
- Meet Tinker Bell at Town Square Theater
EPCOT
- British Revolution (closure previously announced)
- Jeweled Dragon Acrobats
- Serveur Amusant
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular
In June, the pages for these other acts were completely removed:
- Voyage of the Little Mermaid
- Jedi Training Academy
- Citizens of Main Street
- Citizens of Hollywood
- Swotu Waya
- Pandora Rangers
Christmas Party Tixs on Sale!
If you want to spend the holidays with Mickey and Friends, plan to open up the wallet. Tickets for the event went on sale this week, starting at $149. Annual Passholders can get a $10 discount on selected nights. The first party of the year kicks off on November 8.
Another Dessert Party!
If you are a Disney Vacation Club Member looking for an extra special experience, head over to the Top of the World Lounge’s new Villains Lair to book your Wicked Wind Down experience. For $55, you can order a cocktail, appetizer, and dessert from the Villains Menu while enjoying an exclusive look at the Enchantment fireworks from Magic Kingdom.
That’s all the news for this week. While we look forward to having more characters in the parks and restaurants, some of those fan favorites are going away.
