On the Lookout for EPCOT’s Chalk Full of Characters

During the Festival of the Arts, one of the best freebies is to go on the hunt for a few “chalk” characters around, mainly World Showcase.

Now last year, we were treated to a TON of hidden surprises. This year, not so much. It’s a scaled-down version, and that really stinks.

Before I get on my soapbox, let’s take a look at the Chalk Full of Characters activity. First, it’s absolutely free. No map is required, unlike the other scavenger hunts in Epcot.

Secondly, it is a great way to tie in the “art” element to each World Showcase. Who doesn’t love these little touches around the park?

Are you ready to spot these fun characters? Let’s look at all the hiding locations of these chalk art pieces.

World Discovery

Between Connections and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Groot

Hidden in the shadows, you can find Baby Groot by the walkway from Connections to Guardians. He’s peeking out from the shrubbery.

Mexico

If you walk up the stairs of the temple, you will find Dante from Coco. He takes two forms here.

On the left, he’s in his physical doggy shape.

On the right, you can see him as a colorful spiritual guide.

Norway

Snowgies and Bruni

If you know about the nice restrooms in Norway, you probably walked right past the Snowgies.

Make sure to look up and to the right. You’ll spot them near the roofline.

Now, let’s take the small walkway towards Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe, between the building and Stave Church.

There’s a tiny “fireplace” on the left. Look down by the wood and you’ll find Bruni.

China

Mushu, Cri-Kee, and Little Brother

China has two entries from Mulan. Behind The Joy of Tea and Good Fortune Gifts kiosks, you want to look for a “hole” in the wall.

And there’s Mushu and Cri-Kee.

Now, let’s walk into the pavilion and past Lotus Blossom Cafe.

Little Brother is on the right side of the House of Good Fortune near a bench.

This location might be hard to spot because there’s always someone resting in that area.

Germany

Pascal

Tangled’s Pascal loves to hide throughout the Germany pavilion. Let’s go to Karamell-Kuche, but not for caramel corn.

He is right near the rain gutter on the right side of the building. You will see him snagging a piece of caramel popcorn.

Now, let’s to the painted sign for Volkskunst Clocks and Crafts shop.

Can you see him camouflaged in the “Clocks and Crafts” sign?

Pascal is also located to the right of the Bier Stand, more towards the restrooms.

Pascal is painting a sunburst.

Italy

Luca, Alberto, and Machiavelli

You don’t have to stray too far into the Italy Pavilion to find these chalk characters. Head over to the water fountain between Gelateria Toscana and the Prosecco wine cart, you can see the characters from Luca. Alberto and Luca are splashing in the water.

Machiavelli is not amused.

American Adventure

Two new characters can be found at the American Adventure pavilion.

Pocahontas’ animal friends Meeko and Flit can be found on the pillar to the right of the Art of Disney building.

It looks like Flit may be trying to keep a cookie away from Meeko as they head up the pillar.

Japan

Duffy the Bear, Gelatoni the Cat, and Harryhausen Sushi Chef

As you walk to the entrance of Mitsukoshi and head to the left.

Look up near the wooden ceiling beams.

Duffy the Bear and Gelatoni the Cat are painting their own Hidden Mickey.

The second character is back in the pavilion. Walk towards the Kawaii exhibit, and look to your right as you cross the stone bridge.

That’s the Harryhausen Sushi Chef from Monsters, Inc. on the exterior wall of the department store.

Morocco

Abu

Abu from Aladdin is doing what he does best: causing a little mischief. Make sure to head into the main entrance to the pavilion.

If you take a right after entering the entranceway, you can spot him.

He’s right next to the green door.

He’s helping himself to a few goodies while perched on a metal rod.

France

Remy, Emile, Uncle Waldo, Amelia, and Abigail

France used to be home to a lot of characters. Yes, there are a few new additions, but some of the popular ones have gone missing.

If you walk towards Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, keep looking up to the left.

On the side of the building, you will find Remy and Emile.

Emile is enjoying a snack, while Remy scurries along.

Let’s head to the stone wall by the water, right before you get to the bridge to cross the “English Channel.”

You can spot Uncle Waldo, Amelia, and Abigail from The Aristocats.

Amelia has a pink bonnet, while Abigail has a blue bonnet.

And Uncle Waldo is the life of the party in his green top hat.

United Kingdom

Peter Pan, Merlin, Arthur, Basil the Detective, and Professor Ratigan

Head into the pavilion, but look up to the right of The Toy Solider shop.

You will see Peter Pan’s shadow peering into the window.

If you keep heading towards the farthest garden wall of the pavilion, you will spot a few characters from The Sword and the Stone.

Merlin is hanging out on a pillar.

Arthur (aka Wort) and his squirrel friend.

And the other Lady Squirrel.

The UK is also home to two new characters from The Great Mouse Detective.

Take a look at the Tudor Lane building.

Basil the Detective, Dr. Dawson, and toymaker Hiram Flaversham are in the balloon to the left.

On the other ship, you can find Professor Ratigan, Olivia, and Fidget. They are renacting the final battle scene of the movie.

Canada

Koda

We have reached the end of the hunt. Half of the pavilion is under construction, so we have only one character to find.

Koda can be tough to find, but if you peek between the sign…

You will spot someone near the waterfall, enjoying his snack.

So that’s it for all the characters around Epcot. Now when I said we lost a few this year, I wasn’t kidding. Some eliminations could be due to construction (United Kingdom and Canada), but I don’t know the excuse for others.

Missing Characters:

The Land – Splat

Imagination Pavilion – Sorcerer Mickey

Mission Space – Wall-E, Eve, and M-O

Canada- Mei and Bao

United Kingdom – Robin Hood, Little John, Skippy, and BroomDog

France – Lumiere, Toulouse, Berlioz, and Marie

American Adventure – Amos

Italy – Jiminy Cricket

Germany – Spike the Bee

Yep, kinda sad to see some of these favorites go missing for the festival. Well, maybe next year.

That’s it! We have found all of the chalk art characters throughout Epcot.

Do you have a favorite chalk character?
