Lights, Cameras, Action: Celebrating Hollywood Studios

Well, I wasn’t planning to attend Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ 35th anniversary, but somehow I made it.

Unfortunately, I had a few things to do before getting over there. So I missed the stage show, but I did have a chance to look at merch and grab a commemorative guidemap.

I had a pretty high virtual queue group. So I figured, I would wait until like 2pm to leave the house. Well, thankfully, I hit the road earlier. I just had time to park, get through security, and scan in before my number was called. Talk about cutting it close!

Lately, with any special merch, everyone is crammed into Stage 1, which is down by the old Muppets Courtyard. There wasn’t much of a collection. A hat, Passholder shirts, pins, and a Loungefly.

Of course, the dark blue was only available in kids sizes, which made A LOT of people made. I do agree, it’s the best looking one of the bunch.

Unfortunately, I’m a sucker for dated merch, so I ended up with a mini haul.

Btw, one time I did a picture like this at Epcot’s Flower and Garden, and some guy accused me of being a reseller. No sir, I just have a Disney merch problem.

Well, that was pretty much all for the anniversary. No special characters, treats, or anything. Just “buy some stuff.”

Since it was dinner time, we needed to grab some grub. Honestly, the shrimp tacos at ABC Commissary is one of my favorites. Yum!

And of course, there are zero opening day attractions at Hollywood Studios, so we went for the oldest running show: Indiana Jones Stunt Spectacular.

I do miss the old version that was longer and had the audience participation. Now it feels weird talking about movie stunts in a studios that doesn’t focus on movie production.

We decided to head over to Galaxy’s Edge, aka Star Wars Land. Chewie says “Hi!”

Okay, so I never knew that even the soda fountain is in Aubresh.

We checked out the breakfast options for Saturday.

We saw Chewie again, along with Rey and Vi.

Hi!

It was time to head out. Yes, we were skipping Fantasmic. Before we left, we saw Mary Poppins. Apparently, there’s a meet and greet near the old Sid Cahuenga building.

See you later Hollywood Studios. Until next Saturday.

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
