Walls Are Down: The Communicore Opening

Finally, the walls are down at Epcot! After four years, we can see the last pieces of the puzzle. So, let’s get exploring.

First stop: Communicore Hall.

There’s a collection of all the new logo flags from the Epcot pavilions.

Lighting to match the outside…

And that’s kinda it. When you go outside, there’s little shade.

Unless you get under one of these umbrellas that are just randomly placed.

So this performance area does have an Encanto sing-along throughout the day. But in the evening, we are treated to La Calle.

You can pick up festival snacks and drinks at this spot. For now, we have food from the Encanto-inspired food and wine booth.

The Coconut and Passionfruit Smoothie is always a favorite in our household.

At least, there’s plenty of tables and chairs to cool down and sip on the smoothie.

So weird Cast Member interaction. I wanted to snap a picture of the new mural in the Mickey & Friends queue. I ask a Cast Member if I could get in and line to take pictures. He replies, “I don’t care.” Nice, I guess that’s the Disney difference.

La Calle took the stage, but it was time for dinner.

The Fried Chicken Sandwich and the French Bistro Burger with a ton of Zesty Sauce.

After dinner, we decided to check out the character greet at Mickey & Friends. I do love this spot, and it has plenty of throwbacks to Old Epcot. If you want to see a few of those references, check this out.

What was to be a 40-minute wait, somehow ballooned into over an hour. And then, it started raining.

After waiting outside, which I don’t understand for the Florida heat, we finally went inside. Plenty of retro vibes.

We saw the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse.

Goofy

And Minnie!

Since there wasn’t much to do, except sit in a giant hall. We checked out the Portraits of Courage in the American Adventure Pavilion, and if you want the full details, take a look at my other post.

Some blogs were saying that it was replacing the Native American exhibits, but that’s not true. The portraits are on the walls in the rotunda.

Of course, it was time to split a Banana Pudding at Regal Eagle.

With the smoke from the fireworks and the super humidity, that made for a very hazy walk out of World Showcase.

At night, Communicore Plaza does have spotlights that move around…kinda like when used car lots promote a sale.

Now let’s check out Communicore Hall at night.

I like the lights at night, I just wish there was more to the building during the day. The community college aesthetic is kinda bland.

The car sale lights turn a different color.

The Festival Favorites booth is closed for the day.

One last look at the lights.

A peak at Spaceship Earth.

Yep, those showcase logo lights are not working. Good job, Epcot.

Mickey & Friends and Communicore Hall both coordinate with the lights on Spaceship Earth.

And with that, we are done exploring Epcot’s new spaces. Really, really underwhelming.

Until next time…

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
