Last Day of the Frontierland Shootin’ Gallery

With the news of the Frontierland Shootin’ Gallery closing, we had to get over and aim at our final targets.

Since it has been HOT, we decided to go first time in the morning. Yes, we rope dropped the shootin’ gallery.

There was hardly anyone there, but for the ones shootin’, everyone looked a little sad. This spot might not be the most exciting place in the parks, but it held a lot of memories for a lot of people.

I was talking to a guy who just devastated by this closure for a DVC lounge. He kept saying, “Why can’t they relocate it to Fort Wilderness?”

Unfortunately, this current Disney management likes to de-plus everything.

So long, Frontierland Shootin’ Gallery. Thanks for 50+ years of memories. You can check out our YouTube video with our last goodbyes to the gallery.

And special thanks to the other park guest who offered to hit the targets so I could grab them on video.

Now time for our breakfast. The famed Fresh Fruit Nutella Waffle. My mom and I split it; I get the strawberries, and she eats the bananas. Always a classic.

A look who showed up: Drizella and Anastasia.

After the slushy incident from a few weeks ago, I found out that Tortuga Tavern closed. We wanted to see what has going on.

Basically, the registers and windows were covered. Even the menu boards were bare.

So, something is happening near Pirates. Half the gift shop was also boarded up. Hmmm…

We did a little browsing…

And found Captain Jack Sparrow himself.

Mickey and Pluto pirates plushies are plentiful. I like them but the other Pluto version with the bandanna was a tad cuter.

No previews for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, so the water was not running on the drop.

We just felt like spending a Frontierland-type of day. So, we took a look at the totem pole by Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.

With that, I took a slow trip down the Rivers of America.

As you may already know, we always take a minute to check out the goodies at Big Top.

And guess what? Cast Members were passing out a few free samples. I have never seen that ever. It’s been a weird summer. No one is buying anything. Makes you think what’s going on.

Since it was starting to get hot and humid, it was time to head out. The Main Street Band was playing but it was even too hot to stand in the sun to watch them.

One last look at the Castle.

Before we left, we checked out the collectibles at Curtain Call Collections.

That’s a wrap; until next time…

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
