Celebrate the Holiday Spirit at the Resorts
So I had a somewhat magical day planned. Last year, I came down with the flu/brocoticious, and the flu again, taking me out of commission all holiday season. Well, I have an ambitious plan of enjoy/seeing all the Christmas trees at the resorts…even if it kills me.
Today, I was exploring the Magic Kingdom area ones.
But first, I had to drop a little magic into the mail. You can get your envelopes stamped under the train station (where they rent strollers) or at Guest Services at City Hall.
I did manage to grab quick soldier picture.
The first stop was Wilderness Lodge. I decided to take the boat because it would be quicker. Well, it was, but the boat packed us in like sardines. Kids were crying, people having anxiety attacks. It was pure chaos.
Thankfully, I made it to the nice and quiet landscape of the Lodge.
That was until I went to the lobby. When I say packed, I mean people all over. Every seat was taken and people were pushing through. I was almost plowed over at least twice by people with their luggage.
Like most deluxe resorts, Wilderness Lodge had a few treats and other goodies for sale.
The tree next to the treat stand were absolutely packed with the cutest animal decorations. I want them all.
Like seriously, I’m taking the bear.
I went with the Linzer because those are my Kryptonite.
For me, the Wilderness Lodge is the best Christmas tree of them all!
And just across the way was the Boulder Ridge Villas (DVC). Now this used to be a tree with plaid ribbons. It looks toned down from the past.
Since the main lobby was packed, I could finally take a pick of the Linzer cookie. I had to buy it, it’s Mickey shaped.
Of course, the Carrolwood room had a train-inspired wreath.
Back into the main lobby, there was a festive display.
Now, I had two choices: take a bus to Fort Wilderness or take the boat.
I thought that taking the boat would be faster. Well, that was wrong!
I looked at this wreath for over an hour.
First, the boats didn’t start running until 3pm. With a little more than a quarter to three, I decided to just wait it out. Then when a boat arrived, one or two people got out. So it could only take a couple people onboard.
It took forever. Finally, an empty boat arrived.
I was so happy to see the Fort Wilderness dock.
The tree at Settlement Outpost. I didn’t have to time to check out the other spots, so this was going to have to do.
Until I remembered the horseys!
The Tri-Circle D Ranch is decorated for the holidays.
Red says “Hi!”
The tree made of horseshoes.
And this is Jet.
A quick walk back to the dock.
Near the dock, you can see the construction of another hideous tower hotel.
I had to wait for another boat, but this one was heading to the Contemporary Resort. Thankfully, it didn’t take an hour.
Metal Mickey was here!
A few lobby trees by Steakhouse 71.
I had to check out the biggest tree on property.
More lobby trees.
A look at the windows by the gift shop.
Time to look at the Contemporary’s gingerbread display.
Can you spot the five-legged goat?
They also had a treat case.
I grab a butter cookie tree.
Time to hit the Grand Floridian.
A preview of the goodies.
The Christmas tree…
And Gingerbread House
All around the house, you can find character-themed trees.
You can almost spot Figment and Orange Bird.
Another look at the Grand Flo decorations…
One more resort to go. Taking the boat to the Polynesian.
The monorail lights are decorated for the holidays.
Final dock of the night.
A full moon… that explains the craziness.
The Polynesian tree is kinda an afterthought compared to the other deluxe resorts.
More lobby decorations.
The tree in the ‘Ohana lobby area.
And the Bou-Tiki gift shop.
A few wreaths as you walk into the lobby.
That was it for me! It took almost five hours to hit all of the resorts. Disney transportation is something. Ugh! So after that, I grab a few potstickers to go from Kona Cafe and headed home.
Until next time…
