Christmas Chaos
Sometimes, things don’t go as planned… like parking for a dinner reservation at the Beach Club.
So, never ever in my (insert number) of years going to Walt Disney World have I ever been denied parking for a dinner reservation. I was an hour early, which never has been a problem, but the security guards wouldn’t not let me park. And instead suggested that I drive around for a half hour, and he could let me in.
Not wanting to called someone a naughty word on Christ’s birthday, we went to EPCOT to walk through to get to our Cape May dinner reservation.
So, we spent Christmas Day at EPCOT. And surprisingly, it was busy at all. Everyone must have been at Magic Kingdom.
The tents are getting ready for Festival of the Arts.
We took a few moments to take in the pretty red poinsettias.
Since we had a little time to kill, we decided to check out the Boardwalk Inn.
The Main Lobby interior…
And my favorite…the gingerbread Boardwalk Bakery. There’s so many details, and a special surprise too.
And there’s our Little Orange Bird. He pops oit every so often, and chirps too.
Like all the gingerbread displays, you can get a few treats. We passed since it was almost dinner time.
Next, we stopped by the Yacht Club. I like this tree just because it has all the model boats tucked in.
So last year, the Yacht Club had an awesome gingerbread lighthouse. Not this year. Must have been cut from the budget.
Instead, just the standard Christmas Village.
The train wasn’t even running.
As we headed over to the Beach Club, there was a suger sculpture at the Yachtsman Steakhouse.
And saw a towel couple enjoying Stormalong Bay.
Cape May still wasn’t open, so we took at look at the Gingerbread Carousel.
This year’s theme is Mickey’s Christmas Carol.
Look at all the little details…
Of course, another treat store.
And here’s a look at the Christmas decorations in the lobby. Not much, the big focus is on the carousel.
I wanted to check put the Solarium and the DVC area for the decorations.
We found a smellitizer. It looks like the perfect size to pick up and maybe accidentally disappear.
Finally, time for dinner! Cape May can be a hit or miss, but it was delicious this time. I basically just eat Caesar salad and peel and eat shrimp.
Some festive desserts…
Time to face the Epcot crowds. It’s a little busier now.
The Epcot Christmas tree has ornaments representing all the pavilions.
Candy Cane Spaceship Earth.
And now it’s time for Living with the Land. The wait was less than 30 minutes. Total score!
Here’s a video…
Or a photo tour…
It’s a miracle! That in-ground lights actually work.
We wanted to check out Communicore Hall. It’s getting a little better than the plain ‘ol community college look.
The Spaceship Earth gingerbread display.
The Glittering Grove is shining too.
Some snowflakes on the floor and walls.
There’s snowflakes on the pillars.
A couple of photo ops…
They really spruced up the lighting package.
Well, that’s a wrap from an unexpected Christmas night. I wasn’t expecting to go to a park, but it turned out for the best with a Living with the Land ride.
Until next time…
