Disney Week in Review – October 5, 2018

This week at Walt Disney World, we saw Mickey Bars jump in price, a few more closures are announced in the Magic Kingdom, and Be Our Guest Restaurant starts selling alcohol for breakfast. So let’s grab a beer and look back at the week’s news.

Snackin’ Got More Spendy

October is the season for price increases at Walt Disney World. Bottled water and sodas saw an increase of around $.50. Mickey Bars, popcorn, and frozen bananas also saw their prices take a jump. Fan favorite churros saw the biggest increase of the products. They went from $4.50 to $6.25. If you have a snack attack, you’re going to need more cash in your pocket.

Get Your Early Morning Buzz On

Be Our Guest was the first restaurant to serve alcohol in the Magic Kingdom. This luxury was reserved for dinner service only. That’s all changed now! Skip the coffee and tea. You can order your early morning bellini, mimosa, and sangria starting with breakfast.

Peter is Off to Neverland in 2019

Peter Pan’s Flight is scheduled to close for a month long refurbishment on January 9, 2019.  Peter and his Lost Boys are expected to return sometime in February.

Tomorrowland Speedway Takes an Extended Brake (Brake? Get it, get it?)

The long closure of the Speedway will start on January 2, 2019. This is due to the construction of the new TRON attraction. But don’t worry, diesel fumes fans, the Speedway is expected to reopening with the vague “Summer 2019” date.

Artist Point Welcomes a Princess

The Wilderness Lodge has opened reservations for its Storybook Dining experience. You can dine with Snow White and her friends starting December 16. The menu features many rustic dishes including veal shanks and roast prime rib. The price is $55 for adults and $33 for children. Each guest can select an appetizer, entree, dessert, and a non alcoholic fountain beverage item. No word if the Evil Queen will offer her special apples as a snack option.

That’s it for now. Until next week’s adventure. We’ll see you real soon!

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
