Review: Ellen’s Energy Adventure

Oh Universe of Energy, how I miss thee! Siting through the boring movie with the payoff of going through the primeval diorama was pretty tolerable. Nothing like taking a ride back into time and see how those awesome dinos are now fueling you car. Today, you sit through a somewhat entertaining (but holy cow, is it dated) pre-show with Ellen DeGeneres and Bill Nye the Science Guy musing about the wonders of energy.

Universe of Energy

The Low Down:

Opened: September 16, 1996 (Originally Universe of Energy which opened October 1, 1982)

Location: Future World

Type: Traveling theater

Length: 40 minutes

FastPass: No, but there will be a wait because of the length of the show. The plus side? The theater holds about 500 people into the ride portion of the attraction which means it clears out quickly.

Kid Factor: Dino obsessed kids will be around. But for the most part, no one wants to give up 40 minutes in this ride.

Highlights: Dinosaurs! The ride into the primeval world is still stinky and cool, even the creepy one that might eat Ellen. Who doesn’ t love dinosurs? Plus these dinos are less scary than the ones in Animal Kingdom.

Overall: It’s hard to believe that this is an update of the show from the early ’90s. The Jeopardy theme is old, worn and not worth 40 minutes of vacation time unless you really want to get out of the Florida sun and into some AC…or love dinos.

Final Verdict: 2 out of 5 stars

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
