Disney Week(s) in Review: March 27, 2020

Well, as everyone knows, Walt Disney World has closed due to the coronavirus. The theme parks officially shut down on March 15. Disney Springs and all the resort hotels closed down on the 20th. At the time, the closure was to last until the 31st.

Unfortunately, it looks like the WDW complex will not be opening any time soon…

With words like “under further notice,” we really don’t know when things will turn around. It looks like May or June reopening dates might even be pushing it.

In the aftermath of the closings, Disney College Program participants were told the program would end and they only had four days to leave the on-site housing complex.

Epcot experienced massive entertainment cuts that left Sergio the Juggler, the British Revolution, and Matsuriza without a job. They were told their contracts were terminated. It would be extremely sad/terrible if Disney took advantage of this pandemic to trim the budget at Epcot.

Employees were “let go“ at several locations in Disney Springs. Many of them were advised to apply for unemployment.

That’s it for now! It hasn’t been a happy time around the Most Magical Place on Earth. We are hoping that there will be a light at the end of this terrible tunnel.

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
