Easter Eggs Have Returned to the Grand Floridian

Okay, so I wasn’t expecting this morning to head to the Grand Floridian. But after getting news about the debut of this year’s edition of the Easter Eggs, I finished up my work and took an early day.

If you don’t know, each year, the Pastry Artists create different types of chocolate displays. They are usually centered around a certain theme or character. Typically, there are retuning eggs from previous years and new creations with a story from the artists. With all that out of the way; let’s follow the bunny…

Kevin – UP!

The star of this year’s egg display is Kevin – the colorful bird from UP! She’s there in all her glory!

There are over 1900+ chocolate feathers on Kevin.

If you look closely, you will see her flock of baby Kevins, all nesting near mama.

Fabiola: In 2019, I created an UP-themed egg display, which included the UP house and a large egg-shaped balloon cluster attached to the top of it. In 2022, I made the Cinderella Coach egg. This year I have created Kevin from UP. You will notice she is not in the birdcage because she is free.

Fantasia

The Fantasia unicorns and pegasus from the Pastoral Symphony are back for this year. This is one egg that it is a little hard to see the details, but how can you go wrong with one of the classics?

Mr. Toad

Stephanie: I used to come to Disney with my Grandparents, and Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride was my favorite. I look so forward to going on it every time we come to Disney.

Mr. Toad has an egg entry. A Wind in the Willows-inspired display with eggs styled like characters from the film.

Encanto

The Encanto display is spectacular! It’s a three-dimension design with Isabela and Mirabel.

Since candles play an important role in the film, you can see one shining brightly near the base.

Keep an eye out for those little details. Someone is peeking from the floorboard.

Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs

Snow White’s forest cottage is here, complete with her seven little friends in the mine cars.

Marvel – Avengers

Need some superpower? The Avengers are making their presence known with this egg.

Ratatouille – Remy

Remy is seated on top of his edition of Anyone Can Cook.

Between the eggs, you will plenty of cottontails dressed up for the Easter season.

Raya and the Last Dragon

Of course, loyal Tuk Tuk is here.

On the other side…

Walt Disney World Cast Members

This egg is another returning favorite from last year. You can see Walt standing by blueprints that would eventually turn into Cinderella Castle. It honors the Cast Members who make the Magic. Now pay them a fair wage…

You can see the Casting window on the back.

Luca

Luca is back from last year. Take a look at Luca and Alberto swimming in the water.

Orange Bird

Orange Bird is everywhere, even at the Grand Floridian. He’s kicking back in a crate of oranges.

He even has little orange slices on the side of the crate.

Cannot get enough of this little guy!

Stephanie: I attended the parks in the 70s and 80s as a kid and always loved the Orange Bird Character. I also saw him in ads for the Florida Citrus Commission on TV when we came down to the parks.

Epcot – Figment

Figment was one of the stars from last year. Since it is still Epcot’s 40th, the purple dragon is back with his Spaceship Earth-inspired egg that lights up.

Make sure to check out the bottom of the egg. You can see the Epcot logo and the World Showcase countries represented.

Pixar – Piper

Another return with the loveable little sandpiper. If you haven’t seen Piper, check out the Pixar short. This little sandpiper may not be well-known but is a cute return to the lineup.

Winnie the Pooh

Everyone’s favorite chubby cubby makes two appearances in the Grand Floridian lobby. This egg is styled like a “hunny” pot.

You can even see the “100 Aker Woods” address listed on the back.

Miscellaneous Eggs

Some eggs are not full displays. You can find a few “character” eggs around, like Pongo, the Lion King, and Mickey Mouse.

Don’t forget about the princesses: Belle, Aurora, Rapunzel, and Cinderella.

Now on to the main attraction eggs!

Donald Duck and Daisy

The feathered pair are enjoying a little springtime romance. Donald is outside Daisy’s cottage with a pup.

There are even little bunnies.

Monica and Carolina: Carolina loves the character Daisy because of her sense of fashion and independence. Monica’s husband loves Donald Duck. Both of us are from South America and have grown closer through this project.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

This egg is designed like a wooden wardrobe that gives us a sneak peek of a magical world.

Aurora: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is one of my favorite Disney movies. I watched it with my parents who loved it as well. The graphics were definitely before their time, especially “Aslan”; the animation was amazing!

Winnie the Pooh Storybook

Here is the second entry for Winnie the Pooh. You can see the lovable bear covered in honey as he hangs out in front of a storybook.

You can see the front of The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh book.

Justine: I love BOOKS! All of my eggs have a book theme. I read Winnie the Pooh as a child, and now I read it to my own children. My favorite character is Eeyore because he just keeps going.

The Main Street Electric Parade

While Walt Disney World does not have an evening parade, you can still relive some of the floats with this chocolate display.

This is a great display that even lights up. The only thing missing is the music!

Mary Rose: I visited the parks as a child with my father, and we always watched the Main Street Electrical Parade from the train station at midnight. I was so excited to see Cinderella’s Coach.

Celebrate Mickey

The Celebrate Mickey egg did not have a movie theme but celebrates the famous Mouse.

This is a beautifully styled chocolate display. The soft pastel colors are perfect for the Easter season.

It even looks great from the back.

Chef Ernesto and Victoria: I am one of the Pastry Sous Chefs here at the Grand Floridian Bakery. I chose this design based on Celebrate Mickey: 75 InspEARations. I was inspired by all of the Mickey statues and have always wanted to create something of my own. Victoria wanted to be part of this vision and collaboration. I love the idea of having an idea and making it a reality after all, It all started with a Mouse!

My Neighbor Totoro

As an unexpected surprise, Studio Ghibli has an entry.

Totoro and friends join in the Easter festivities.

Ariel: I wanted to represent a movie that is lesser known in America. My Neighbor Totoro is set in Japan and is known for its animation. It was a movie that I enjoyed watching with my best friend when I was a child.

The Sword in the Stone

There is Excalibur in this egg-shaped display. You will also find Arthur, Merlin, and Madam Mim.

So many details, it was hard to capture the beauty of this egg.

Juan: Growing up I loved watching the Sword in the Stone. I watched that movie every day. I wanted to create this thrilling scene from that movie with my egg display. My favorite quote from the movie is by Merlin to Arthur – “Develop your brain! There’s a higher power!”

Alice in Wonderland

My favorite display! I love the details in the egg. You can find Alice, the White Rabbit, and Cheshire Cat too.

If you look closely, both sides have a working clock. I could stare out this one for hours.

Yadi: I made a Rolex watch cake once that had actual moving hands. So this year I wanted to create a timepiece using the White Rabbit from “Alice in Wonderland” as the timekeeper.

Bambi

Meg: I love the Disney Classic Movies, and I love animals. So I thought that Bambi had the quintessential Spring theme. I enjoy painting in all forms whether it be acrylic or cocoa butter as you see here.

This display features a classic look with one side showcasing springtime decor…

While the other features Bambi and his friends.

The Country Bear Jamboree

The Sun Bonnet Trio takes center stage with this Frontierland display. Look at the stage lights – they actually light up.

You can even find portraits of all the Country Bear family.

Loren: The Country Bear Jamboree was my Grandpa’s favorite attraction. I would sit next to him in the theatre, and he would always sing along with “Big Al.” It’s a show that is very near and dear to my heart.

The Princess and the Frog

Tiana is taking over everything! This chocolate egg display features the Princess with the frog version of Prince Naveen.

You can find a jazzy version of Tiana on the back.

Maria: When I first watched “The Princess and the Frog,” I thought it was so inspirational. I identify with Tiana, she followed her dream with her Father’s encouragement. It reminded me of my own Father’s encouragement to pursue a baking career.

Munchlings

Munchlings are all the rage! You can find a pineapple upside-down cake with a friendly face.

Check out the recipe:

Plus, there is a Mickey-shaped cupcake.

KrystaI remember my Grandmothers’ antique kitchen that was so comforting. When the Munchlings came out, I thought it was the perfect mix of Disney characters and baked goods. This egg combines the two things that I love, Disney and Baking.

Cars – Tow Mater

You can find Mater surrounded by chocolate tires in this display.

Take a look at the back to see the signs of the local businesses from Radiator Springs on the back of the egg.

Kait: I wanted to create something for my fiance because we are getting married this year. His favorite movie is Cars, and his favorite character is Mater.

Bunnies

Don’t forget about the “guard” bunnies. They make sure there is plenty of law and order by the main displays.

A Look From Above

Of course, you need to see things from a different angle.

Live Egg Painting

If you head off to the left of the Grand Cottage, a few of the Disney Pastry Artists are painting characters on a large egg.

There are three artists, and they take turns painting different characters on the large egg.

Love the shoutout to Dodger from Oliver & Company…right behind Mickey Mouse.

It takes a lot of hours to complete this piece.

John was working while we were visiting.

On to the Treats…

Last year, the Grand Cottage made its debut. You can pick up your favorite springtime treats, like carrot cake, lamb-shaped cake pops, chocolate bunnies, decorated eggs, and orange-scented cookies.

You can choose from a variety of goodies.

There are plenty of spring flowers…

Cute birdhouses…

Bunny-shaped decor…

Life is short, eat cupcakes… We agree!

Side view of warm hot cross buns.

Now the treats:

The price list.

And our choices:

Orange-Scented Cookie

The cookie is really huge and almost too pretty to eat. You get two large vanilla soft sugar cookies that have a sweet cream filling inside. I could taste the “hint” of orange, but it was barely there. Overall, a really great choice, but one you might want to share with a few other people.

Lamb Cake Pop

The lamb pop is a confetti-style cake. I didn’t like it because I thought the cake tasted underbaked. But it got approval from my mom.

Cupcake Sampler

I went back and forth on these cupcakes, but finally went ahead and bought them. These cupcakes were really moist and had a nice touch of vanilla flavoring. A must-have if you want a good cupcake.

And that is it! If you have time definitely come out and visit the Grand Floridian. These artists put so much time and effort to create these pieces. It’s an amazing free offering that you can only find from now until Easter.

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
