First Day at FArts (Yes, We Went There)

Disney does not waste time with their Epcot festivals. As soon as the holiday stuff is cleared, we are getting ready for the Festival of Arts (or FArts).

The obligatory passport shot! Now on to merch…

If you love color and Figment, there is plenty of merchandise to love. It’s the arts festival, it should be big and bold. I love it!

And the prizes for Figment’s Brush with the Masters are stencils. Okay, not the greatest prize ever, especially for $9.99.

More stuff because we are merch girlies.

They dusted off the Figment painter animatronic. He used to sit in the Odyssey.

Hats are making a comeback. For a while, you couldn’t find any type of festival hat.

Now on to the actual “arts” of the festival. As you step out of Creations, you will find the expensive stuff, like handcrafted tables amd gallery paintings. Too rich for me.

So I settled for a Loungefly. It’s bright, purple, and Figment-y.

One of my favorite parts of the fest are the chalk drawings. We usually say “hi” to Leigh (thechalkteacher), but she was super busy. Instead, we had to admire from afar.

And a new t-shirt collection at Epcot. Mickey is representing all the different pavilions.

Another look at the stencils.

Time to grab the new popcorn bucket at Figment’s Inspiration Station.

Figment is looking a little stabby.

But there’s plenty of Figment goodness in the old Odyssey.

The chalk decals are back. Hi Dante!

But Grand Fiesta Tour is still down. There was some trivia instead.

It was a nice day for the festival

Time to enjoy the food. This was the Chicken “Pot Pie” with Smoked Cheddar Mornay Sauce, Roasted Vegetables, Pickled Mushrooms, Wasabi Peas, and Sherry-Chicken Jus served open-faced on flaky Pie Crust

And the Deviled Egg Trio with Pimento Cheese, Green Goddess, and BLT. Btw, these were NOT deviled eggs, just hard boiled.

And a random duck.

A festive Figment at the Art of Epcot.

The next stop was for some grilled cheese and souo. It’s a tradition at FArts.

Another look at our chalk artist friends hard at work.

We wanted to pick up a print of Rob Kaz’s festival painting, but his tent was slammed all day. By the time we came back, it was sold out. He does restock, so we try another day.

The decorations near World Showcase alwasy look brighter.

Everyone was raving at the new Broadway display in the Communicore airport lounge. And it did not disappoint. It was amazing! The displays described the process of creating costumes for the performance.

Figgy was looking spiffy too.

Adn he has his costumes too.

More of the Broadway costumes…

Right outside of Communicore Hall, Epcot used that open space to put in a few artists’ tents.

Donald is my spirit animal…

One last sweet treat of the day… the Rainbow Cake.

And a frozen slushy with your choice of flavor. They had some weird ones (campfire?), so I stuck with strawberry lemonade.

And last look at the merch. We didn’t get to see the pins because there was a swarm of people in the morning.

Some Figment artwork right outside of Connections. It’s Figment in different styles.

And that’s a wrap for the first day of FArts.

This is always a great festival and an excellent way to start off the new year.

Until next time…

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
