Review: Les Chefs de France

Ah, glorious Paree! What better way to end a day at EPCOT than a meal at one of the World Showcases’s better restaurants.. Les Chefs de France. The warm glow of the restaurant is inviting and almost gives the feeling that this is indeed a brasserie on a busy night in Paris. But alas, we’re still in Florida.

Les Chefs de France was created by three of France’s heavy culinary hitters. It features French inspired cuisine and an animatronic rat.

The Low Down:

Price: $$$

Type: Table Service

Accepts Disney Dining Plan and Tables in Wonderland. 1 Table Service Credit for DDP.

Food: French, but not the stuffy-what-in-the-hell-am-I-eating French either. Okay, maybe let’s call it “French inspired.” How did vegetable lasagna get on the menu? Food is always great and expect good sized portions. The Prix Fixe menu is an excellent choice for lunch (soup, sandwich and dessert). While cheese plates, lobster bisque and steak round out the dinner choices. Meals start with fresh baked baguettes. Desserts featured creme brulée and chocolate treats.

Can’t Miss Items: Gruyere baked French onion soup, Braised Short Ribs and Creme Brulée.

Service: French-y. Polite service but somewhat aloof (read: not rude). Wow, just like the real France!

Ambience: Romantic, it would be a good restaurant to celebrate a “special” occasion. But… it’s tad crowded. Tables in the bistro section are very close together – bad, unless you want the table next to you to hear your entire conversation, or worse yet hear their conversation. Don’t expect to whisper sweet nothing’s in your babe’s ear either. This restaurant can be loud, especially later in the evening. Lunch is considerably less noisy, less crowded and more child-centric.

Alcohol: What’s a trip to France without wine? They have it. There’s a beer selection as well.

Kid Factor: French food seems to scare some families off. But the hours when Chef Remy comes around (Monday – Saturday between 12:00-5:30) expect plenty of kiddies’ squeals.

Overall: I highly recommend Les Chefs. It’s one of the best restaurants in the World Showcase. Food is great, service is nice and the atmosphere cannot be beat.

Final Verdict: 4.5 out of 5 Stars

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
