Disney Week in Review – September 28, 2018

Social media has been blowing up with the news coming out Disney this week. There is yet another change in the way we purchase tickets, Rafiki is going bye-bye, and the White Rabbit gets up early. It’s been quite a week at the Mouse House.

Rafiki Closing… Maybe?

It was announced that Rafiki’s Planet Watch was closing on October 12. The Conservation Station, Wildlife Express, and the petting zoo Affection Station were also all expected to be shuttered. Everyone’s favorite attraction did get a reprieve though. Disney has announced it is closing for refurbishment and will reopen in Spring 2019.

The Rivers of Light Shamans Get the Pink Slip

The Animal Kingdom nighttime spectacular, Rivers of Light, is making major cuts to their show. The human storytellers will take their final voyage on September 29. The show will continue, with empty boats, after that date.

Disney Sweetens Early Morning Magic

The special ticketed event in the Magic Kingdom is adding a few more attractions. EMM includes a breakfast at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe for only $79. That’s a lotta Mickey Waffles! Along with Peter Pan’s Flight, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, you can also enjoy the Mad Tea Party, Journey of the Little Mermaid, it’s a small world, and Princess Fairytale Hall starting on December 2.

Rats Can’t Make a Decent Pizza

PizzeRizzo is taking its final bow. The pizza spot, known only for its view of Galaxy’s Edge construction, is going to “open seasonally” hours. That is usually the death knell for many attractions and restaurants in the World. A rumor has been floating that October 20 is the last day. Keep your ears open for more news…

Buying a Theme Park Ticket Gets a Little More Complicated… or Not

Disney announced they are changing the process to buy date based tickets. The Magic Kingdom will no longer be a higher priced ticket. But don’t think the prices have gone down at all. You will still pay a premium depending on what time of the year you choose to attend the Parks. You will no longer have a 14 day “grace period” to use a multi-day ticket. You can find out more with an official video from Disney Parks Blog.

That’s it for now. Until next week’s adventure. We’ll see you real soon!

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
