Egg-cellent Adventure to Grand Floridian and Contemporary Resorts

So it’s Easter time, and that means one thing: decorated eggs at the Walt Disney World resorts.

And oh boy, we visited a ton of eggs on Saturday. If you’re looking for a peek at these chocolate pieces, here is what we found.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

First stop: The Contemporary Resort. The location of the eggs is a little different this year. Previously, you could find them on the 4th Level, aka Grand Concourse. This year, they’re on the first floor, sandwiched between the check-in desks and Steakhouse 71.

Starting from left to right, we have a Walt-inspired egg with a few bunnies and Minnie on display.

Next up, Lion King and The Nightmare Before Christmas eggs.

There was also a Honey bee egg and flower planter one.

Moving on to the next table, we have a few more goodies. If you need a sugar rush, check out Vanellope von Schweetz.

Who wouldn’t want this cute little birdhouse? If only it wasn’t made of chocolate.

Toy Story fans will also want to check out Mr. Potato Head.

The Little Mermaid is represented with an Under the Sea egg.

I think we would all like this wrapped egg on our Eater baskets.

To the last table; an Eve egg with her buddy WALL-E.

Check out the Mickey Mouse display and an egg signed by all the members of the pastry team of the Contemporary.

An UP! scene that depicts the living room, complete with a grape soda bottle cap.

They also have a 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea egg.

Finally, a Pride egg and an Alice in Wonderland one.

And usually at the Contemporary, there’s is a Mary Blair “five-legged” goat hidden somewhere in the display.

Can you find it?

It’s hidden right behind the Mickey egg.

So there are two brand new eggs that are not here. You have to head upstairs to Contemporary Gifts on the Grand Concourse to see them.

A Fantasia egg and a Mickey’s Popcorn bucket.

To celebrate our travels, we had a St. Patrick’s cookie to enjoy, which was just a regular sugar cookie with a hint of mint flavor. Nothing too spectacular.

And now to the grand dame of the egg displays – the Grand Floridian.

Disneys Grand Floridian Resort and Spa

If you saw any of the displays from last year, this edition is seriously lacking.

Still, most of the chocolate eggs are beautiful, but just really downsided, especially if you count that many of these eggs are returning from last year.

We start with an Alice in Wonderland display.

Bambi inspired egg…

A new entry, a baby dragon.

Disney Snacks are a popular theme in merchandise, so naturally we find a treat in chocolate egg form.

We have random bunnies.

We see Yzma in cat form.

Just saying… we totally need more Emperor’s New Groove representation in the parks.

The underrated Onward is next. Even if you’re not a fan of the move, check out the details.

Two eggs inspired by Elemental as well.

For the main table, we have a stove ready to make Munchlings.

If you remember from last year, Disney bakery artists were taking turns painting a character egg. Here’s the completed version.

Al’s Toy Barn is been turned into egg form.

Up next is the impressive Beauty and the Beast display.

Jasmine and Raj has their own ornate display.

Another returning classic is the Main Street Electrical Parade with Elliott the Dragon.

A cute carton of villain eggs.

This display takes inspiration from the storyboards of Disney animators.

Love the koi pond display.

More bunnies on display.

Daisy’s cottage from last year

Then we have a Princess and the Frog egg, with one Hercules muses on the back.

My favorite for this year, a Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway egg.

A Sword in the Stone chocolate display with Excalibur.

One of the showcase displays was based on the movie Moana.

Finally, the big centerpiece of the egg display is a James and the Giant Peach egg.

For this year, the Disney chocolate artists are painting a Pixar-inspired egg.

Now that we’ve seen the eggs, it’s time to grab a few treats. The Grand Cottage has returned and there’s plenty of yumminess to enjoy.

There’s a ton of little bunny details around the cottage.

When you get up to the cottage, you can pick your treats.

We chose the carrot cake pop and giant milk chocolate bunny (filled with M&M).

So with all these beautiful eggs and treats, are you planning to visit the Contemporary or Grand Floridian this year? Let me know in the comments!

Kungaloosh Radio

Theresa has been a life-long Disney fan since she first visited the Magic Kingdom in 1985 at the age of 3. According to her mother, she squealed with excitement when she saw Winnie the Pooh and Chip n' Dale for the first time. That love for Disney has not waned as she grew up. She continues to be fascinated with the history of EPCOT Center and maintains the radio station, Kungaloosh Radio.
